I’m Jan-Marlon, the maker behind Isly. I got tired of the notch sitting there doing nothing while I switched between apps to check my calendar, control music, or start a timer.
I tried a few other notch apps. They were either too expensive or didn’t feel native enough. So I built my own, combining what I liked and cutting the rest.
Isly lives in your notch and shows music controls with cover art, running timers, calendar events, and volume and brightness readouts. Everything’s always visible and one click away. It stays light on resources (around 0.2% CPU when idle, ~49 MB RAM) and feels like part of macOS, without extra windows or menu bar clutter.
I built this because I wanted my MacBook to feel more alive without adding more UI overhead. The notch is perfect for quick, glanceable info.
Next, I’m working on more extensions - Claude Code sessions, system stats, and whatever else you’d want to see in the notch. Seriously, I’d love your feedback on what belongs there.
