Islet turns your Mac's notch into a tool built for developers. It changes with the app you're in: AI commit messages and git status in VS Code, localhost to your phone (or a public link) in Chrome, and `islet run` alerts in Terminal. When Claude Code or Codex needs your approval, a hand pops up in the notch with a chime. You also get PRs with CI status, ports and your Claude usage at a glance. Music, meetings, timer and AirDrop too. ~25 MB, 0% idle CPU, no account, free.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm Yash, and I built Islet for myself. My days are mostly background work: Claude Code sessions, test suites, builds, dev servers. I kept alt-tabbing to check on them, hundreds of times a day. The notch apps I tried were great at music and a file tray, but none of them knew I was a developer. So I built one that does. What makes it different 🪄 It changes with the app you're in. In VS Code it shows your branch and changed files and writes a commit message from your diff (you still click Commit). In Chrome it puts your localhost on your phone with a QR code, or shares it publicly in one click. In Terminal, `islet run npm test` chimes when it's done. Finder, Figma and Preview get their own tools too. ✋ It tells you when something needs you. Claude Code and Codex are built in (anything else via `islet agent`). When an agent waits for approval, a hand bounces in the notch. One click takes you to the right window. 🧭 A glance at everything else: open PRs with CI status, listening ports, your Claude usage window, and it keeps your Mac awake while agents run. ⌨️ Keyboard-first: double-tap Control, ⌘1–⌘6, single keys for the rest. And yes, the basics are there: music, next meeting with one-click Join, timer and Pomodoro, a file Shelf with AirDrop, mic/camera indicators. Light and private: ~25 MB of RAM, 0% CPU when idle, a 2–3 MB download. No account, no analytics, nothing leaves your Mac. Free and source-available. Honest notes: Apple silicon + macOS 14+ only. It isn't notarized yet (that's $99/yr), so the DMG needs one "Open Anyway". The one-line install skips that: curl -fsSL https://yashtygi.github.io/islet... | sh I'd love to know: which app should the notch learn next? Xcode build status and native hooks for more agents (Cursor, Gemini CLI) are on my list. Tell me what you'd want in yours. 🙏

Who hunted Islet?

Islet was hunted by Yash Tyagi. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
