Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built Interlinea to scratch my own itch. Reading a translated classic, I'd constantly stop and wonder: what did the original say? how did another translator put it? — and then fumble between two or three paperback editions trying to line up the same passage. By the time I found it, the reading flow was gone.
Interlinea puts every translation in front of you at once and aligns them sentence by sentence. Click any line and its match lights up in all the others. The Tao Te Ching across three languages, two renderings of the Iliad facing each other — the same thought, refracted through different minds (that's the prism in the icon).
A few things I care about:
Local-first. The semantic alignment runs in your browser via on-device embeddings. There's no backend storing your books — because there's no backend at all.
It's free, no account, nothing uploaded.
It handles the messy real-world stuff: EPUB/PDF footnotes, chapter detection across editions, verse line breaks.
