Hey Product Hunt! 👋 Nahom here, the solo developer behind InfoDiet.
I built this after realizing I had no idea what I was actually feeding my brain every day. I could tell you my screen time in hours, but not whether I spent it learning something or mindlessly scrolling. That felt like a real gap.
InfoDiet runs silently in the background and categorizes every site you visit into one of 8 content categories — News, Social Media, Entertainment, Educational, Shopping, Forums, Gaming, and more. At the end of the day you can see exactly what your information diet looked like.
The feature I'm most proud of is the Information Quality Score — a single number that tells you the ratio of educational vs entertainment content you consumed that week. It's surprisingly confronting the first time you see it.
What makes InfoDiet different from screen time tools:
📊 It tracks what TYPE of content you consume, not just how long
🎯 Daily and weekly focus goals with progress tracking
⏱ Pomodoro-style Focus Sessions that release blocks during breaks
🚫 Daily budgets per category — InfoDiet blocks access when you hit your limit
🔄 Cross-device sync so your data follows you across browsers
A few things I'd genuinely love your feedback on:
- Is $3/month the right price for a passive background tool like this?
- What categories are missing from the 8 we track?
- Would you use this if it showed your information diet as a weekly email digest?
7-day free trial, no credit card required — would love for you to try it and tell me what you think.
