I built iLoveAudioVideo because every "free" converter I tried wanted me to upload my files to someone's server, and then hit me with a size limit, a watermark or a daily cap. For a two-hour interview or a family video, that felt wrong.
So everything here runs inside your browser. The file never leaves your computer. That is also why there is no size limit and no sign-up: there is no server cost per file.
What you can do:
- Turn recordings into text or SRT/VTT subtitles (16 languages; in our English tests about 96-97% of words came out right)
- Compress a video to an exact size, like Discord's 20 MB limit
- Convert MOV, MKV, WEBM or AVI to MP4, video to MP3, make GIFs, merge clips, cut audio
Honest limits: speed depends on your machine. A 2-hour recording took 29 minutes on a 4-core Windows machine with no graphics card. Safari is slower than Chrome or Edge for now.
