Most repair tools are a black box: file in, file out, no idea what changed. This one opens the Excel, Word or PowerPoint file, checks every part against ECMA-376, and shows the exact fault: the XML with a caret on it and the cell or slide it damages. It catches what AI-generated files get wrong: numbers stored as text, formulas whose saved answer is false, XLOOKUP that shows #NAME? on older Excel. No file comes back unless the Open XML SDK accepts it. Free, no account.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 This started with a spreadsheet an AI agent generated. It looked perfect: every total was right. Then someone opened it in Excel, Excel recalculated, and a whole column went to zero. Every number had been saved as text. The file carried the right answers on top of the wrong data, and no validator complained, because it was all perfectly legal XML. That's the gap this fills. Files made by AI and code generators rarely break in obvious ways. They break in the details: elements in the wrong order, values Excel won't accept, formulas whose saved answer isn't what they compute, functions that only exist in Microsoft 365. Drop in a file and you'll get two buttons. "Nah, just give me the fixed file" if you're in a hurry, and "Show me the boring stuff" if you want the XML, the damaged cell and the full repair plan. If we can't fix it, there's a button that copies the whole diagnosis so you can paste it into Claude or ChatGPT. Honest limits: we only hand back a file if Microsoft's Open XML SDK accepts it, so sometimes the answer is "here's what's wrong, but we won't guess." And when a file isn't broken at all (it's password-protected, or an old .xls renamed), we tell you that instead. Please try to break it. The weirder the file, the better. 🙏
