Hyper Sheets
Learn HTML, CSS, JS & 40+ more topics by playing games
Learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript and 40+ more topics from zero: 1,200+ short lessons, 1,600 auto-checked exercises, 350+ games, client Scenarios, a daily review that adapts and your own pixel village. Every lesson, exercise and game is free.
Hi Product Hunt! I'm Ivqon, the maker of Hyper Sheets.
Hyper Sheets started in 2021 as my undergraduate thesis in Indonesia. That year Sandhika Galih, a popular Indonesian coding YouTuber, reviewed it on his channel Web Programming UNPAS, and over the five years since, the first version has reached around 9,000 users. But the codebase aged almost as soon as I finished it (Vue 2 to 3, Laravel 8 to 9), and my attempts to rebuild it never got finished.
Back in 2021 I also assumed GPT-3 would make a platform like this unnecessary. The opposite happened. The easier AI makes building apps, the more people want the fundamentals: kids learning IT at school, people who build apps by vibe coding and want to understand what the AI wrote, and developers like me who realized they'd handed too much of the basics to AI. So I rebuilt it from scratch.
It's for people learning to code from absolute zero, often on just a phone, who drop off when learning feels like homework. So everything is built around play: short lessons, exercises your browser checks instantly, and 350+ games that turn ideas like CSS grid or regex into something you want to come back to. No account needed to start a lesson.
What's inside:
• 1,200+ lessons across 47 topics, from HTML, CSS and JavaScript to React, Python, Go, SQL and system design, with 1,600 auto-checked exercises and 410 playgrounds
• 350+ games, one concept each: Box Packer has you pad a gift box with CSS padding, and Guess the Console asks what a line of JavaScript prints
• Client Scenarios: a client sends you a brief in a chat (a pre-order page for her Eid cookies, a page for a meatball cart), you build it, and she comes back with revisions
• A daily review that adapts: miss something and it comes back tomorrow, get it right and it waits longer. Cards, quizzes and exercises in one session
• After a lesson you explain it back in your own words, and you get AI notes on your code
• The Arena: 5-minute speedruns, 1v1 duels and a contest every Saturday, with a rating that goes up and down
• Reasons to come back: daily quests, XP and coins, weekly leagues, boss seasons, a pixel pet, your own pixel village to grow, and a streak you keep with a friend (it only counts on days you both learn)
• Also inside: a typing school made for code, classes where teachers assign lessons and run live quizzes, and 12 language courses for work
Every lesson, exercise and game is free. The site runs on supporters: an optional PRO plan covers server costs and adds cosmetics, a daily coin bonus and more credits for Ask Hex, the AI tutor. Everyone gets a few free Ask Hex questions every day.
Hyper Sheets started in Indonesian, and today I'd love feedback on the English version: the coding lessons, exercises, games, the client Scenarios and the pixel village are all in English.
1. Does the English read naturally, or does anything sound translated?
2. Is the first lesson clear enough for a complete beginner?
3. Which game would you like to see more of?
It's a big release, so there will be bugs. The report button in the app sends them straight to me, along with the page you were on.
