HostLens
Research Airbnb prices and occupancy as you browse
HostLens is a browser extension for Airbnb market research. As you browse a market it quietly captures the listings you scroll past, then lets you enrich, filter, benchmark, and export them from a side panel.
What inspired me to build HostLens
I started building after a stretch of unemployment. I suddenly had the time, and I wanted to build something from scratch that I'd use myself as an Airbnb host.
Market research tools like AirDNA are priced for professionals managing many properties. As a newer host with one listing, I found them expensive and more than I needed. I didn't want a giant dashboard. I wanted to know what similar listings charge, which amenities they offer, and how booked they are.
So I built HostLens to collect that straight from the source. As you browse Airbnb, it captures the listings you scroll past, and a deep scan adds amenities and estimated occupancy. Because the data is yours, you can export it to CSV and save a snapshot of your market every few weeks. Over time that becomes your own historical record of how prices and occupancy shift, instead of a number in someone else's report.
On top of that, HostLens shows price and occupancy tiers for your market, and which amenities the top-performing listings have that the rest don't. That gives you a shortlist of things worth investigating for your own listing.
It's still early, and I'm improving it as hosts tell me what they need. I'd love to hear how you'd use it.
