Me and my team have been travelling and reviewing hostels for more than a decade, and during that process, we learned that backpackers and travellers are... well, flaky. Unpredictable.
We'll plan, plan, plan, just to change everything last-minute. Change our minds, meet someone, or hear about a new, tantalising idea… such is the travel life!
But that means hostel availability is constantly changing. Every time someone changes their route, misses a flight or extends their trip elsewhere, a bed pops back onto the booking sites.
These openings can disappear just as quickly as they appear, so unless you’re constantly refreshing the hostel booking page, you'll probably never know they were there.
We figured there had to be another way, so we built this tool that monitors availability for you. HostelWatch uses and monitors data from Hostelworld, one of the world's largest hostel platforms, and pings you the moment a bed opens up.
People settle for their second-choice far too quickly. And no one ever remembers that one… they remember the hostel they actually wanted to stay in.
