Hi everyone!

Putting a literal mechanical gimbal inside a phone is a crazy structural idea. We thought about this almost a decade ago when making handheld gimbals for smartphones, but it never got much further than the thought.

But today, HONOR actually did it!

They fit a 4-DoF titanium gimbal system into a 9.6mm phone body. The main camera physically moves to stabilize and track subjects, can pull off 90° and 180° spin shots, and even moves like a little head in YOYO Robot Mode.

Once a camera can move on its own, the gimbal stops being just a stabilization tool. It gives the phone a tiny bit of a body.

And somehow they fit all of this into a phone you can actually buy.
