Hey Product Hunt! 👋

I’m Nela, co-founder of HireKey

I spent 10 years recruiting for technical and non-technical roles at Microsoft, Amazon, and Stripe, to name a few. I reviewed thousands of resumes and interviewed thousands of candidates.

Time and time again, I saw qualified people get passed over simply because their resumes didn’t connect their experience to the role, or because they struggled to explain that experience in an interview. They had the right skills, but hiring managers weren’t seeing the connection.

That stayed with me because many of those people were incredibly talented, genuine people whom I had to give the unfortunate news of rejection, which is honestly the worst part of recruiting.

So, we built HireKey around the recruiting knowledge I’d gathered over those 10 years, giving job seekers access to the perspective from the other side of the hiring table.

HireKey helps you assess how your experience fits a role, tailor your resume, practice interviews with an interactive AI voice coach, and track your applications in one place.

How it works

1. Add the job and your master resume. Find a role you want to apply for and add its title, company, location, and job description to HireKey’s Job Tracker. Upload your master resume once, then use it across the jobs you’re considering.

2. Tailor your resume and assess your fit. HireKey adapts your master resume to the job description, bringing your relevant experience into focus, along with an analysis of missing skills or experience and whether transferable experience could help bridge those gaps.

3. Practice out loud, on demand. Practice using the STAR framework with an interactive AI voice coach. Get specific feedback on where your answers are strongest and where you still need practice.

4. Keep your search organized. Track applications through stages such as applied, screening, and interviewing, so you always know where things stand.

A closer look at interview practice

Knowing your work and explaining it clearly are two different skills. This was something I saw repeatedly as a recruiter, and it’s why interview practice is such an important part of HireKey.

You can choose practice questions or add your own, then start speaking with the coach, all on demand. It responds to what you actually say and helps you identify where an answer needs more clarity or detail. You also get a debrief on what went well and what to improve.

Prefer to prepare on your own first? You can print interview questions with tips on how to approach your answers.

Who it’s for

HireKey is built for people pursuing technical and non-technical roles in tech, especially when you:

- Find an interesting role but aren’t sure how well your experience fits.
- Need help making your relevant experience clear on your resume.
- Know your work but struggle to explain it in an interview.
- Have multiple applications in progress and need to keep track of them.

Great product and congrats on the launch! In an increasingly crowded space, I think this is the first product I've seen that stays with the applicant through the whole process, from application to interview practice. How does the voice coach adapt to different personalities, industries, fields?

@jonnotie congratulations on the launch!!

The product looks promising.. Does the voice coach also involve personality testing? like confidence ,fluency or communications?

I'm a junior backend dev in Brazil applying for remote roles, both local and international. Two questions: does the recruiter input carry over to hiring outside big US tech, and does the voice coach give feedback to non-native English speakers, or only on the content of the answer?

the honest answer about not checking technical accuracy is the part I'd watch out for as a user. STAR structure feedback could make someone sound more confident delivering an answer that's actually wrong, and a polished delivery of a wrong answer is worse in a real interview than a rough delivery of a right one. is there any plan to at least flag when an answer sounds complete but is thin on verifiable specifics, even without full technical grading?

How about adding MCP to this, mostly I use AI to apply for the jobs, and its really pain for me adding each job on this platform after applying, so if it could have MCP, AI can do that for me, and I can use it more efficiently.

The voice interview coach caught my attention. Does the feedback change based on the specific role you’re applying for or is it mainly focused on how clearly you structure and explain your answers? Congrats @founder92 & team! Routing for you guys :)

Hey Nela, many congratulations on the launch! 🥳

The landing page and messaging are really strong. You’re solving a genuinely important problem. Job searching is often scattered across platforms and opportunities, making it hard to track applications and next steps, tailor a resume for every role, and practice interview questions. AI is especially well suited to bringing all of that together.

What makes HireKey especially compelling is your recruiter’s perspective, few people could build this with the same insight into what hiring teams actually look for.

Wishing you and Lance a very successful launch. :)

Sometimes I spend more time figuring out if I even fit a job than applying for it.

Does the voice coach evaluate answer structure as well as technical accuracy?

@founder92 If I ever decide to look or need a new role will be leveraging @HireKey , It's been over 20 years since I've had to take a job interview, so I may need this. Best of Luck.

Hey Product Hunt! I’m Lance, co-founder of HireKey 👋

Nela shared why we started HireKey, so I’ll keep this short. We’ve put a lot of thought into the small moments that make a job search exhausting: losing track of a role, rewriting the same experience again, or wondering whether you’re ready for an interview.

I’m excited to finally put HireKey in your hands. If you give it a try, I’d love to hear what helps and what feels awkward. We’re here today and reading every comment.

the voice coach might be the thing i never knew i needed, my interview game is rusty, maybe i'll just try it out.
