Finally tried Hirca Keywords Linker on a couple of older posts and the first-occurrence rule saved me from the over-optimized mess I usually end up with. The import/export feature made moving my keyword list over almost too easy.
Skipped a plugin like this for years but setup took about two minutes on a test site. Love that it ignores code blocks, my devlog posts didn't get weird auto-links scattered through snippets.

Linking only the first occurrence is smart, but it would be even better if we could set a custom limit like "link up to 3 times per post" or control the density. Some longer articles really benefit from multiple mentions of the same keyword, and right now there's no way to do that without editing content manually.
