Highlight Inbox Synthesizer
Synthesize your highlight backlog into one note, no server
People sync hundreds of highlights from Readwise, Snipd, or Kindle into Obsidian and never open the folder again. Highlight Inbox Synthesizer reads the whole folder and writes one synthesis note: a summary, key claims, and topics per source, plus the themes that recur across sources. Runs on your own AI key. No server, no account, no subscription. Free tier included, one-time Pro license, no monthly fees.
I kept seeing the same complaint in reading and PKM communities: people sync hundreds of highlights from Readwise, Snipd, or Kindle into their vault and then never open the folder again. The saved passages pile up into a graveyard, and the effort of collecting them never pays off.
So I built a plugin that reads the whole folder and writes one synthesis note: for each source a summary, the key claims, and a topic list, then the themes that show up across more than one source, with where sources agree and where they pull apart.
A few decisions that make it different from most paid AI plugins: no server, no account, no subscription. It runs entirely on your device with your own API key. The Pro license is one-time and verified offline, so there is no backend and nothing phoning home. To be honest about privacy, BYOK still sends your highlight text to whichever model provider you choose, so I do not claim your notes never leave your machine, only that there is no server or data collection on my side.
I have no coding background, so I built this entire plugin with Claude writing the TypeScript, designing the architecture, and walking me through every step.
If you have a highlight backlog like this, I would like to know how you deal with it now.
