Today we're launching HF4-Light, a free on-premise AI workspace, plus a growing family of free AI models that run inside it. No cloud. No API key. No account. Nobody but you ever sees what happens in it.
Privacy shouldn't be a luxury feature. Every serious AI tool today routes through someone else's cloud, which is fine until it isn't, a journalist with a sensitive source, a therapist with client notes, a small law firm, a parent who just doesn't want a tech company reading their messages. Most people who care about this have no real option. The private, on-premise version of AI has only ever existed for companies who could afford a custom enterprise deal.
We think anyone who wants AI without the surveillance should be able to have it. That's the whole idea behind HF4-Light. It's a single file workspace, chat, conversation history, model switching, all of it, that runs entirely on your own machine. No install, no Docker, no signup. AI that never touches the internet.
Running inside it is our own family of free, fine tuned models, open weight and yours to keep. No subscription, no API meter, nothing that stops working if we ever do. We're constantly training and improving this family, so expect more models to join soon.
This is just the start. We're building toward something bigger.
Coming soon: HF4-Deck, the team version of this idea. Where HF4-Light is one person and one machine, HF4-Deck is a full shared workspace, like a group chat with AI built into your team. Everyone in the room, talking to the same AI, which can read your files, search your documents, and run agents that handle real work in the background, all without anything leaving your own servers. We're actively building it now and will share more soon.
