Helix: Athlete Recovery Tracker
WHOOP-grade recovery on the Apple Watch you already own
Helix reads your Apple Health data and returns one recovery score every morning, a strain ceiling for the day, and fatigue tracked muscle by muscle. Bloodwork, VO2max testing and an AI coach on top.
Hey Product Hunt,
I built Helix because the recovery apps I wanted all came with a $200 strap and a monthly membership to read data my Apple Watch was already collecting.
Helix reads Apple Health on-device and gives you one recovery score every morning, built from overnight HRV, resting heart rate, respiratory rate, wrist temperature, SpO2 and last night's sleep. Each signal is z-scored against your own rolling 60-day baseline, so the number means something for you and not for the average 34-year-old. Through the day it tracks strain against a ceiling that moves with how recovered you actually are.
Three things I made non-negotiable:
1. No backend. There is no server and no account. Every score is computed and stored on your iPhone. The AI coach calls out to OpenAI and Claude, and it only ever sends anonymized numbers.
2. No hardware. It runs on the Apple Watch and iPhone you already own.
3. Honest numbers. Strain needs real heart-rate presence, so it never invents a value. Phone-estimated sleep is labeled as an estimate. While your baselines are still building, Helix tells you its confidence is low instead of pretending.
Recovery, strain, sleep and stress are free forever. Pro adds the deep end: fatigue tracked across 16 muscle groups from workouts you never have to log, a VO2max lab with Cooper tests and race predictions, blood panel analysis, and a coach that answers from your actual numbers.
I'd love to hear where the scoring feels wrong to you. That is the part I'm still tuning, and I read everything here today.
