I'm the solo founder behind Havnest Money. For 15 years I ran our household finances in a giant Excel file I built myself — it did exactly what I needed, but only lived on my laptop. I tried dozens of budgeting apps over the years. Some of them were really good apps, but none of them handled a household the way I imagined it should: natively handling several household members with shared and personal expenses, while constantly planning for what's ahead, not just tracking what already happened.
After 21 years working in data analysis and corporate finance, I decided to stop adapting my life to other people's apps and decided to just build the thing myself.
Havnest Money is primarily a native Apple app (coming simultaneously for iOS, iPadOS, and MacOS) but with a potential universal web version coming later. It is built around some key concepts that most finance apps skip or don't implement fully: every transaction can belong to a person or the household, budgets are completely flexible, and a massive forecasting engine shows your actual future balance — not just a spending pie chart. All analytics allow you to drill down to any level of details you want, but can keep things super simple too.
Also featuring a highly detailed retirement scenario planner, a dedicated "Child mode" (motivating kids to be financially responsible from an early age), and tag-based Projects tracking (e.g. weddings, house renovations, etc.).
All financial data are encrypted on device (256 bit encryption), and never leave your device in a readable form. Even we at Havnest Money have absolutely no way to read your financial data.
