Top comment

Eighteen days ago I asked r/ChineseLanguage if people would actually want a tool that breaks down a Chinese sentence —not just translation, but vocabulary with pinyin, grammar explanations, and the cultural story behind classicalreferences and idioms. The response surprised me. People really wanted this. So I built HanClip, a Chrome extension that does exactly that. Right-click any Chinese text on any webpage, get a learning card without leaving the page. Free tier with 10 analyses a day, unlimited with Pro. Stack: FastAPI + Next.js + DeepSeek, on Railway and Vercel. Zero experience with Chrome extensions or AI products before this. Learned everything along the way. Happy to answer questions about building it, what broke, what I'd redo. And genuinely looking for feedback on the product itself.
