Hi Product Hunt, I work as a sysadmin, and outside work I lift weights and listen to a lot of music. That is roughly where the name GymRiff came from: Gym + Riff. I built GymRiff because I wanted a strength workout tracker without another required account, advertising platform, social feed or recurring subscription. Privacy and reliability were important from the beginning. GymRiff stores workout plans, history, body data and training metrics locally on the phone. I do not operate a GymRiff cloud account system or a server containing users’ workout databases. Offline use was also a practical requirement. Many gyms I have trained in are in basements or large buildings where mobile reception is weak. I did not want workout logging to stop because an app could not reach a server. The Wear OS app was equally important. I do not like carrying my phone between machines or taking it out after every set. After syncing a plan, the watch can handle the actual workout: selecting the day, logging weight and reps, tracking warm-up and working sets, running rest timers, recording effort, following supersets, replacing an unavailable exercise and completing the session. The phone is for planning, history and analysis. The watch is for training. I also wanted the free version to remain genuinely useful. Unlimited workout plans and history, manual planning, the equipment-aware Smart Plan Builder, phone workout tracking, active Wear OS logging and the core workout statistics are free. Premium is an optional one-time unlock for advanced analysis, rule-based Coach guidance and full local backup and restore. Building local-first did not remove the difficult data problems. It changed them. Backup compatibility, phone migration and reliable phone-to-watch synchronisation required far more attention than the visible feature list suggests. GymRiff is my first publicly released app, built as a solo developer. I would especially appreciate feedback on three things: 1. Is the local-first, no-account positioning clear? 2. Does the Free versus one-time Premium boundary feel understandable and fair? 3. Is the division between phone planning and watch-based workout logging obvious? Thanks for taking a look.
