GuessThatBook: For non-fiction readers
A tiny daily habit for curious non-fiction readers
A daily word game for people who love non-fiction. Read a one-sentence premise, then guess the book's title one letter at a time. Miss, and a ginger cat pushes a book off your shelf. Solve it to see the book's big ideas. Free, no sign-up.
Hi all! I'm Subhash, and I made GuessThatBook.
My favourite part of any non-fiction book is the one-line pitch: the sentence that makes you think "wait, I need to read that." So I turned it into a daily game.
You get one premise and a hidden title, and you guess letters, hangman-style. Every wrong letter, a ginger cat shakes his head, walks over and pushes a book off your shelf. Six books, six mistakes.
A few things I cared about:
• No friction. It's free, it runs in your browser, and there's no sign-up. Sign in only if you want your streak on every device.
• You leave with something. Each round ends with the author, the year and the book's big ideas, and you can save it to your reading list.
• Sharing that doesn't spoil. Your result card shows the premise and the books you lost, never the title, so friends get the riddle, not the answer.
Two questions for you:
1. How many books did the cat take? Paste your result, but please no titles in the comments.
2. Which non-fiction book should be a future puzzle? I'll add the best suggestions.
Thanks for playing!
