GSS is a 3D language for people who already speak CSS. Declare shapes in a @scene, style them with selectors, the cascade, custom properties, and @keyframes, and the compiler turns it all into a single raymarching shader (GLSL for WebGL2, WGSL for WebGPU). No Three.js, no meshes, no UVs. Drop a tag on any page, or try it live in the playground. Open source, Apache 2.0.

Hello Product Hunt 👋 My name is Lucas. I’ve been writing CSS for years, and every time I wanted a little bit of 3D on a page I had to leave everything I knew behind. A scene graph, meshes, a render loop, a 600 kB library. So I asked a dumb question: what if a 3D scene was just a stylesheet? The answer is GSS. You wrote: @scene { torus as ring; sphere as ball; } #ball { color: #ff5a36; material: jelly(0.6); animation: float 2s alternate; } … and it compiles to one fragment shader. All shapes are signed distance fields, so blending two objects, rounding a corner or cutting a hole is one property, not a modeling task. What is working today: • Selectors, Cascade, Custom Properties, :hover, @keyframes, Transitions • Primitives, extruded or lathed to 3D SVG paths, gradients, materials (chrome, glass, jelly…) • WebGPU with WebGL2 fallback, web component, Vite plugin, VS code extension • A playground with auto-completion. A full reference. It’s early days (v0.0.5), and I’d love to hear what you’d build with it, and what feels un-CSS-like. I’ll be here all day to answer questions.

really cool! Curious how far you plan to push the CSS metaphor, like could I just drop a <gss-scene> into an existing Tailwind site and have it pick up my design tokens?
