Hi Product Hunt 👋 I’m Farai Janda, Founder & CEO of Gold Spade Digital. GSD Banking Simulator grew from a problem I experienced personally and later saw repeatedly in professional environments: there can be a major gap between learning banking, accounting and finance in theory and knowing how to operate confidently inside an actual system. My background includes degrees in Management Information Systems and Accounting, an MBA, and certifications including PRINCE2 and ITIL. Over the years, I have worked with or consulted for organisations including MTN Group, Glo Mobile, Econet Wireless, Standard Bank Group, Microsoft, Old Mutual Group, NMB Bank, Bidvest Bank, Sterling Bank, Fundamo/Visa Electron and others, with project experience spanning more than 12 African countries and the wider Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. When I studied accounting, I learned journals, ledgers, reconciliation and reporting. But entering a corporate environment raised different questions: Where do I actually enter a transaction? Where does it post? How do I trace it? How do I reconcile it? What happens when something doesn’t match? How do I investigate the exception? And when management or an auditor asks about a reported number, can I trace it all the way back to its source and confidently explain it? That experience helped inspire GSD Banking Simulator. The principle is simple: Pilots train in simulators before flying real aircraft. Banking and finance professionals should also be able to practise before working with live systems and real money. GSD Banking Simulator lets users practise the workflow: Transaction → Posting → Reconciliation → Investigation → Reporting → Trace Back to Source. Users can experiment, make mistakes safely, understand what happened and build practical confidence without putting customers, live systems or real money at risk. We see strong potential for students, graduates, universities, banks, training institutions, interns and existing banking and finance professionals. Our goal is to help close the gap between: “I understand banking theory.” and “I can actually operate, reconcile, investigate and report inside a banking environment.” I’d love to hear what the Product Hunt community thinks — especially where you believe banking simulation could create the greatest value. — Farai Janda Founder & CEO, Gold Spade Digital

Comment highlights

I built GSD Banking System Simulator because there is often a big gap between learning banking and accounting theory and actually understanding how transactions move through a real banking system — where they post, how they reconcile, what happens when something goes wrong, and how final reports trace back to source transactions.

But we have gone further than simulation.

We have also built a modern AI-enabled banking process documentation and transformation framework to help institutions document how they operate today and design how they should operate tomorrow.

That means helping banks work through:

AS-IS → TO-BE → GAP → PRIORITIES → ROADMAP

covering processes, controls, roles, handoffs, data flows, reconciliation, reporting, exceptions, AI decision support, operational resilience and modernization requirements.

The bigger vision is simple:

Understand how your bank works today.
Experience how a modern bank could work tomorrow.
Document the path from AS-IS to TO-BE.

And before spending millions changing a core banking environment, institutions should be able to safely simulate, compare, challenge and de-risk the future first.

I’d genuinely value feedback from people in banking, fintech, finance, audit, risk, operations and technology:

What banking process would you most want to simulate, redesign or document before changing it in a live environment?
