Hey Product Hunt! We are a team of teenagers who all faced the same problem — spending hours online every day with zero idea what it costs the planet. Streaming, scrolling, video calls, it all adds up fast and nobody was tracking it.
So we built GreenByte. A Chrome extension that monitors your CO2 emissions across streaming, social media, video calls, gaming and browsing in real time, using research-backed formulas from IEA, Carbon Trust and Purdue University. Every number is real science.
We believe the generation that lives online should be the first to understand its environmental cost. The internet already emits more CO2 than the entire aviation industry and traffic doubles every 3 to 4 years. Awareness is the first step to change.
We are building toward global leaderboards, GreenTokens and team challenges to make sustainability competitive and fun. This is just the beginning.
