Gout-Cha!
Track purines, uric acid and flares — from a photo
Gout is managed between flares, not during them. Gout-Cha! counts the purines in your meals from a photo or a sentence, tracks water, medication and flares, and plots your uric acid against the EULAR target (360 µmol/L, 6 mg/dL). Ask Cha!, the gout-trained AI, "Can I eat this?" and get a straight answer. Food values from CIQUAL, USDA/NIH and Kaneko. English, French, Spanish. 7-day free trial, free plan after.
Hi Product Hunt 👋
I built Gout-Cha! because of a very specific, very boring problem: gout is managed on the days when nothing hurts, and nothing about those days is motivating.
Between flares, you're asked to watch purines in food — a number almost no label shows, that varies with how the food is cooked, and that you're supposed to keep a running total of. In practice people give up in a week, then get surprised by the next attack at 3am.
So the app does the counting. You photograph your plate or type "chicken and lentils", and Cha! (the assistant) returns the purine load, using values sourced from CIQUAL, the USDA/NIH purine database and Kaneko 2014 — not crowdsourced guesses. It also tracks water, weight, medication and flares, and gives you something to aim at on the days you feel fine.
Two things I'd genuinely like feedback on:
1. The hardest design problem isn't the data, it's motivation between flares. I use streaks and a daily target. Anyone who has shipped for a chronic condition — what actually kept your users around?
2. It's live in English, French and Spanish. If the food database is missing what you eat, tell me and I'll add it.
On pricing, so nobody is surprised: new accounts start with a 7-day free trial of everything, no card charged on day one. After that you can subscribe, or keep using the free tier: up to 5 meals a day, by photo or by text, with your daily purine total, water and streaks. Blood-test tracking, the doctor PDF, weight and the purine/weight/fructose triangle are the paid part.
Not medical advice — I'm not a doctor, and the app says so.
Happy to answer anything, including how the purine data is sourced.
