GomiSense
Point. Scan. Dispose. No more guessing Japan's trash system.
Japan's garbage system confuses even locals — for expats, it's overwhelming. GomiSense solves this with AI: just point your camera at any item and instantly know which bin, which bag color, and which collection day. Unlike generic waste apps, GomiSense syncs your ward's actual collection schedule, sends smart reminders before pickup, and shows nearby recycling points on a map. Available in English, Japanese, Turkish, Korean & Chinese. Supporting Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto & Yokohama districts.
Hi Product Hunt! 👋
I'm Ahmet, the solo developer behind GomiSense.
This started from a real frustration — I traveled to Japan and had no idea what went in which bin. The rules change by ward, the flyers are in Japanese, and getting it wrong means your trash gets left uncollected with a yellow sticker of shame. 😅
So I built GomiSense: point your camera at any item, instantly know the bin, bag color, collection day — all synced to your actual ward's schedule.
Would love to hear from anyone who's lived in Japan — how did YOU figure out the trash system? And if you haven't been, would this make you less scared to move there? 😄
Happy to answer any questions!
