Glycohero
Learn blood sugar basics by playing a platformer game
Glycohero is an educational game about blood sugar management. You run through themed levels, eating foods that raise/lower your blood sugar in real time. Vegetables and lean proteins give you shields and pills. Junk food spike your glucose into the danger zone. Stay in the safe range and fight a boss themed around real-world food challenges. It also provides a flashcard library covering blood sugar basics, food science, exercise, and lifestyle. Every card has reference linking to its source.
I don’t have diabetes myself, but someone in my family was diagnosed with prediabetes last year (A1C reached 6.0%, 2-hour OGTT 11 mmol/L). I spent months digging into nutrition and exercise to help her adjust her habits. About half a year later, her A1C came down to around 5.7%, without taking any medicine.
Along the way, I realized how unintuitive blood sugar management is for most people, including me at the start. The science is documented, but it's locked behind clinical PDFs and textbooks that most people who would benefit will never read.
I understand managing this every day is already hard, and I wanted to see if learning it could feel a bit less overwhelming, maybe even a little more fun.

Glycohero was hunted by Sherlock Xu. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
