Hi Product Hunt! I’m Krish, the creator of GIFs.md
As an active Obsidian user, I love the speed of plain text, but I realized my notes were feeling a bit too rigid and static. I was constantly breaking my flow to open a browser, search for a GIF, save it, and drag it into my vault just to express an idea or add some visual flair.
I built GIFs.md to completely eliminate that friction. Now, you can search, preview, and drop GIFs directly at your cursor as native Markdown images, without ever leaving the editor. Whether you use the command palette or the right-click menu, it takes about three seconds from thought to insertion.

The cursor-aware insertion is such a thoughtful touch, no need to drag or reposition anything after picking a GIF. Feels like it was built by someone who actually writes in Obsidian daily.
Love how this keeps me out of the browser, the right-click insert is so smooth. One idea that would be even better, add a small history or favorites panel inside the picker so I can quickly reuse the same GIFs without re-searching trending stuff every time.
Inserting GIFs straight from the command palette without breaking flow is genuinely handy, especially for journaling notes. Right-clicking to drop one at the cursor feels native to Obsidian.
