After I became frustrated with Geocaching's heavily paywalled ecosystem I decided to create our own drop/hunt Geocaching-style game which we've just released to the Apple App Store.
GetStashd is a real-world treasure hunt game for iOS. You hide physical objects anywhere you like. Others hunt them using live GPS, an AR camera that shows nearby stashes in your viewfinder, and the clues you leave behind. It’s the game geocaching wanted to be brought up-to-date:
AR view.
Dynamic Island live activity during your hunt.
Social layer.
Badge collection that only works if you actually go to the badge spawn location.
GPX Import.
Leaderboards.
Modern digital logbook.
Offline maps.
....and much more.
We’re a one-person UK studio and understand just how hard it is to get an app like this off the ground so would appreciate any help available!
We know there's Geocachers out there with large libraries of their own caches/stashes and we would love to talk about importing them into the Stashd ecosystem such that they can co-exist on both the Stashd Map and Geocaching.
