Hey everyone 👋
I built Gently because I kept running into the same small, frustrating problem over and over again.
I’d write a message — an email, a reply, a comment — and then reread it thinking:
“that didn’t come out right.”
So I’d copy it into another tool, tweak it, paste it back… repeat that process multiple times a day.
It wasn’t hard — just constant friction.
Most AI writing tools already exist, but they all pull you away from where you’re writing. That felt like the real problem.
So I built Gently to do the opposite:
👉 stay inside the text box
👉 improve your message in one click
👉 no copy and paste, no switching tabs
The goal was simple: make writing smoother without breaking your flow.
Over time, the focus shifted a lot from “features” to speed and low friction — making it feel almost invisible, but still useful.
I’ve put a lot of time into this (probably more than I expected 😅), and I’m really curious to hear what you think.
