Hi, I'm Rowland, Genchi's founder.

Genchi shows engineering leaders a prediction of which projects are heading for a missed deadline and which aren't, from the people doing the work. Giving every engineer a way to be heard, this prediction comes from their anonymous, one-click confidence vote in response to a regular, automated Slack prompt. Those votes are combined by project into a single score, tracked over time, so leaders can spot projects in trouble sooner and step in where needed, and, more importantly, know which teams to leave alone.

Why another tool?

Standups (and standup tools) are intra-team focused. They tell a team how the team is doing, and often perform a "status thumb check," but that view rarely travels beyond the team.

Developer Productivity Insight Platforms are analytical. They forecast from work already completed, so they can't see what hasn't reached the tracker yet: the vague requirement, the shaky dependency, the worry nobody has raised.

Genchi makes it easy to capture the signal directly from the people doing the work. Think of a rolling SAFe confidence vote (fist of five), from 1 (Doubtful) to 5 (Certain), combined by project and visualized across the portfolio.

I first launched Genchi here in 2019, and it was stalled by COVID. This is a complete rebuild, with Jira and Asana integrations and an MCP App that shows your live portfolio inside Claude, ChatGPT and Grok.

It's free for teams of up to 10.

I'd love to hear if you use other tools to capture the "wisdom of crowds" directly from team members, and whether that signal has helped you better predict project outcomes.

Comment highlights

predictions from the people actually doing the work is a smart angle, most trackers just guess 👏 do teams plug it into github only?

This is a huge upgrade over the last version I saw. The MCP connector is the big win. Now I can use Claude to mine the Genchi data and integrate it with my other decision-making.

Love this! Really appreciate how simple the interface is yet offers such strong insights. Nicely done!

Congrats on the launch @rowland!

This is great. I’m sure the team is fed up with the “How’s it going” round of conversations each week. I know I am. It’ll be great to simply automate that and track the results over time.

Rowland, an anonymous confidence vote gives the team a small way to flag a worry before it turns into a missed deadline. Keeping the trend by project should make those changes easier to spot. Congrats on the rebuild!

Who hunted Genchi?

Genchi was hunted by Rowland Savage. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
