What is the YouTube Video Note Taking Tool? 🙌
- It’s a free online tool to help you take time-stamped notes while watching YouTube videos and highlight the key points for review, through a YouTube link. Exporting and sharing your notes, with the original video embedded.
💡Why did we build it?
- YouTube has become an invaluable language-learning platform for both me and my children. They eagerly watch Chinese tutorial videos, while I indulge in short English dramas to enhance my language skills. However, I've always struggled with finding the perfect solution to take notes while watching these videos. Handwritten notes are too slow, and switching between windows to use memos or sticky notes to take notes is incredibly time-consuming. Moreover, when I have numerous videos to watch, my notes become a jumbled mess.
This got me thinking - why isn't there a tool that allows us to take notes directly while watching the video, complete with corresponding time stamps? And wouldn't it be amazing if this tool could even automatically extract the text from the video, saving us the hassle of manual note-taking? So I can focus on absorbing the content and honing my language skills, rather than getting caught up in the logistics of note-taking. This is significantly improving efficiency. Inspired by this idea, I took charge and rallied my team to create such a tool.

- Automatically transcribe the whole video to text, or transcribe from where you like
- Extract text from the current screen of the video. No need to take notes manually
- Export notes to PDF or Gemoo Docs with the original YouTube video embedded
- Copy the notes with timestamps to the clipboard
- Share your video notes with others through a shareable link
- No sign-ups and downloads are required
