Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I’m Jerome, the maker of GasSplit.
I built GasSplit to answer a simple question: “How much gas money should each person pay?”
You enter the trip distance, fuel economy, fuel price, and number of people. GasSplit estimates the cost and gives you a breakdown to send to your group.
A few things you can do:
- Enter distance directly or use odometer readings.
- Look up a supported car’s EPA fuel economy if you don’t know it.
- Split costs with the driver included or among passengers only.
- Add tolls and parking, then copy the bill or save it as an image.
It’s free, requires no account, and runs the calculations in your browser.
One lesson from building it: getting the math right doesn’t automatically make the inputs clear. We changed the return-trip option so you enter the distance first, then choose whether to double it—with the total shown explicitly.
