Gardenix actually started in our family. I grew up with a mother who had been a skilled gardener since she was young, so I saw how much experience it takes to understand what a plant is trying to tell you. Later, I saw the opposite experience on my wife’s side of the family and among friends: plants would start struggling, nobody could work out why, and a few weeks later they were gone. So the very first version of Gardenix wasn’t meant to become a public app at all. It was a small private website for our family. Somewhere you could show a struggling plant and get a specific answer instead of another generic care guide. That idea eventually became Gardenix. Today you can take a photo to identify a plant, diagnose what may be wrong with it, and get a step-by-step treatment plan based on how serious the problem looks. Gardenix has also grown to cover garden plants, trees, lawns, weeds, flowers, weather alerts, recovery tracking, and plant-aware chat support. One thing that matters a lot to us is honesty. Every diagnosis includes a confidence score. If Gardenix isn’t sure, I’d rather have it say so than confidently give someone the wrong diagnosis while their plant gets worse. We also deliberately avoided the classic subscription trap: the first 3 scans are free forever, with no card required and no trial that quietly renews later. Gardenix is built by ALTF4, a small independent studio with no outside capital and no growth department, just a small team trying to build the plant app we wanted our own families to have. If Gardenix saves a plant that was already destined for the bin, it has done its job. I’d love to hear what you think, especially about the diagnosis experience, confidence scoring, and what would make you trust a plant-care app enough to act on its advice.
