Hey Product Hunters 👋 Yael here, maker of GameOn. I built this because I was struggling to keep my own kids off screens whenever they got bored. I knew they were capable of so much more creatively — but TikTok and YouTube were always one tap away, and making something felt like too much effort. I kept thinking: what if the same YouTube sofa time or endless swipe energy was pointed at making something unique? Something that made them feel better about themselves and helped them discover new sides of what they're actually capable of — instead of just consuming other people's content? That's GameOn. A safe alternative to TikTok for kids ages 8–15 — same social dopamine loop, opposite behavior pattern. Think of a creative solution to today's challenge, make it, submit it, watch your friends react, compete for champion. The whole thing takes 20 minutes. Then they put the phone down feeling more capable, not less. Why this matters more than most apps admit: Studies on self-efficacy (Bandura) and active vs. passive screen time consistently show that kids who create rather than consume build genuine confidence and resilience. Every GameOn challenge is a tiny mastery loop — a problem, a solution, a reaction from peers. That's fundamentally different from passive scrolling, and kids can feel the difference. What parents ask me most: - Is it safe? — No accounts. No DMs. No follower graphs. Every video is moderated before it goes public. - Do they need to download an app? — No. Works on any browser. Tap "Add to Home Screen," done. - Can teachers use it? — Yes. Classroom mode lets teachers run private class challenges with a join code — like Kahoot, but for creative video challenges instead of quizzes. The gap this fills: TikTok wasn't designed for kids — it was designed for retention. Kahoot is great for recall but doesn't build creative confidence. There's nothing that sits between "addictive social media" and "educational tool" and makes creativity feel genuinely fun and social for this age group. That's exactly what GameOn is: a daily creative challenge platform for ages 8–15, structured enough for classrooms, social enough to be fun, safe enough for parents to feel good about it. Happy to answer anything. Would especially love to hear from parents, teachers, or anyone who's tried to redirect a bored 10-year-old away from their screen lately. 🙏 → Try it now: https://gameon.life
