Gallerya
Back up your iPhone photos to a USB-C drive you own
Gallerya copies only what's new from your iPhone or iPad photo library onto any USB-C drive, checks every file with SHA-256, and browses the drive as a gallery. No iCloud, no account, no server. The archive is plain dated folders any computer can open. New in 1.1: Trips finds your past trips on the phone, without sending any location anywhere. Free for 200 items, then $4.99 once.
Hi Product Hunt! I built Gallerya because my phone said storage was full and the only fix on offer was a bigger iCloud plan: rent, forever, for my own photos.
Gallerya takes the other road. Plug in any USB-C drive (a flash drive, an SSD, an SD card reader) and it copies only what's new from your library, as originals: HEIC, RAW, Live Photo pairs, edited and unedited. Every file is SHA-256 checked as it's written, and nothing counts as backed up until it's verified.
The drive is the archive and the app is just a window onto it: plain dated folders, readable file names and a plain-text catalog, so any computer can open it even if Gallerya disappeared. A Cleanup tab then frees space on the phone, but only for photos the drive provably holds.
New in 1.1: Trips finds the times you were away and shows them as cards above your photos, worked out on the phone without sending any location anywhere.
Free for your first 200 items, then $4.99 once. For Product Hunt, the full version is half price, $2.49, until Monday 26 Oct: open getgallerya.com/ph on your iPhone or iPad, or scan the code in the last gallery image.
