Hey Product Hunt, I’m Mitchell, and I built Fuel Daddy.
In Australia the same litre of petrol can cost 20 cents more at one servo than at another a few minutes down the road. The prices are public, because every state government publishes them. The apps showing them were full of ads, wanted an account before they’d show you anything, or only covered one state.
So I built the one I wanted at the bowser. It started as a Queensland side project and now covers every state and territory: 8,100+ stations, pulled straight from the official government feeds. Most states refresh every 15 minutes. VIC and WA only publish once a day, so the app tells you how old each price is.
What it does:
Live map of the cheapest fuel near you, filtered by fuel type
Price-drop alerts on the servos you actually use, with your own threshold
Route planner that finds the cheap stops along your drive
Home Screen widget with the cheapest fuel near you
Fuel log so you can see what you’re spending
It’s free. No ads, no subscription, nothing locked. There’s an optional $4.99 one-off tip in Settings, and it unlocks nothing. I scrapped the subscription a couple of months ago because charging people for price alerts felt wrong.
It’s on iPhone for now, and fueldaddy.com.au works in any browser.
If you’re in Australia, I’d love to hear whether it found you a cheaper fill. If you’re not, tell me what your country’s fuel apps get wrong. I’ll be here all day answering questions.

Who hunted Fuel Daddy?
Fuel Daddy was hunted by Mitchell Down. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
