Friday - Virtual Assistant
Your open source, voice-controlled AI assistant for Linux.
Meet Friday: Your open-source, voice-controlled Linux assistant. Tired of big tech listening in? Friday is a local, privacy-first personal assistant designed specifically for Linux desktops. It lets you control your computer, manage tasks, and browse the web entirely hands-free.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I’m Gaurav Sharma, the maker of Friday.
I’ve always loved the idea of a personal assistant like Jarvis, but I hated the idea of an always-on microphone sending my personal data to Big Tech servers. As a Linux user, I also noticed there weren't many great, native voice assistant options available.
So, I built Friday.
It’s a Python-based, voice-controlled assistant that integrates directly with the Linux desktop. Whether I'm deep in a coding session and need to quickly search something, or I'm away from my keyboard and want to launch an app or take a screenshot, Friday handles it locally and securely.
This project is open-source, and I’m actively building it out. I’d love to hear what features the Linux community wants to see next!
Try it out, and let me know your thoughts in the comments! 🐧🚀
