Several years ago, I did a bit of research into founder compensation and created a simple model that calculates what a typical founder salary might look like based on a few input factors. Since the post is now more than five years old and got a little rusty, I thought it was time for an update! The analysis is based on more than 700 data points provided by Figures. Figures collects live data from 1000+ start-ups and later-stage tech companies across Europe by connecting to its clients' HRIS APIs.

Congratulations on the launch of this truly amazing product! It's an outstanding achievement.

Hi, I’m impressed by your product and your web app. I think you have created a useful and insightful tool that can help founders calculate their optimal salary based on their situation and goals. I like how you provide a simple and intuitive interface that asks relevant questions and gives accurate results. I also appreciate how you provide a detailed and personalized report that explains the logic behind the salary calculation and gives tips on how to negotiate it. I think your product is a great solution for founders who want to avoid underpaying or overpaying themselves and optimize their motivation, lifestyle and company performance. I’m curious to know how you developed your algorithm and what challenges you faced along the way. Congratulations on your launch and I wish you all the best! 👏

This is incredible! And thanks for making it available for free rather than hiding it behind an email harvester. The stats appear to be fairly good based on my admittedly scant personal information.

Hey guys! This is such a cool decision to create a calculator like this. It's interesting that the founders consider salary to be equal to profit. However, I do have a question regarding the inclusion of the parameter for parental status. Probably it might be more beneficial to calculate the opportunity costs of time spent or not spent with kids, and discount it over the long term, perhaps within a 3-5 year perspective. Wishing you further development and success!
