Forget Me Not is an Android reminder app for appointments, medication, the MOT and the bins. Reminders that arrive on time, quick add from one spoken line, and three ways to look at what is coming.
I started this as a way to properly learn Android development, and along the way I set myself a challenge: build one feature I hadn't seen done in the reminder apps I'd tried. This week it went live on the Play Store as a real product.
The feature is voice-to-reminder: you just say "remind me to put the bins out at 7am every Tuesday" and it parses the whole thing — the task, the time, and the weekly recurrence — into a scheduled reminder. No forms, no pickers. Getting natural language like "every other Thursday" or "the first of every month" to resolve into the right schedule turned out to be the most interesting (and fiddly) part of the whole project.
The app around it is Forget Me Not — a reminders app built around notifications rather than to-do lists. One-off and recurring reminders (hourly through yearly), early warnings before things are due, categories with their own icons and sounds, and a calendar view.
Two other decisions I made early that shaped everything:
No subscription. I'm personally fed up with £3/month for an app that fires notifications, so it's a 14-day free trial and then a single one-off purchase. Forever.
Everything on-device. No account, no ads, no tracking, no cloud. Your reminders never leave your phone. This made some things harder (backup/restore had to be file-based export instead of "sign in and sync") but it's the app I wanted to exist.
