Food Pantry App helps you track pantry items, scan barcodes, log expiry dates, get recipe suggestions, and receive alerts before food goes bad. Reduce waste and save money.

Top comment

I built Food Pantry App because I was tired of throwing away expired food. After realizing the average household wastes $1,500/year on groceries, I knew there had to be a better way. The app uses barcode scanning and smart notifications to help you track what you have, when it expires, and what you can cook with it.

Comment highlights

The barcode scan worked surprisingly well on my messy pantry items and the expiry alerts already saved me from a forgotten box of crackers.

Scanned a few items from my overflowing shelf and the expiry alerts are actually useful, not just generic reminders. The recipe suggestions based on what’s about to go bad is a nice touch I didn’t expect.

A nice and clean idea. One thing that would help me a lot is a shared household mode, so my partner and I can update the same pantry from our phones and stop buying duplicates of the same items.

Been wanting something like this for a while. One thing that would make it really useful for me is a shared household mode so my partner and I can both update the pantry from our phones in real time, instead of accidentally buying three jars of peanut butter in one week.
