I've spent years working inside small businesses in the UAE, and I saw the same thing everywhere: the owner runs the whole company from WhatsApp, but the accounting lives somewhere else. Receipts pile up in a drawer or a phone gallery, invoices are made in Word or Excel, and VAT becomes a panic every quarter. Accounting software exists, but most owners never open it because it expects them to think like an accountant.
So I asked a simple question: what if the accounting came to where the owner already is? That became Fisqel. You send a message, a voice note or a photo of a receipt on WhatsApp, in English or Arabic, and it issues the tax invoice, records the expense, applies UAE VAT and keeps a real double-entry ledger behind the scenes.
The biggest lesson came from the first version. It worked, but it behaved like a form: it asked question after question before doing anything. Nobody wants to be interrogated by their accountant. So I rebuilt it to act first: Fisqel now drafts the invoice or expense from whatever you send, shows it to you, and only asks when something is really missing. I also learned that our customers send far more receipts than invoices, so receipt capture became the heart of the product, and all the money maths is done by strict accounting rules, not left to AI guesswork.
