Top comment

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I built FirstLight because “get morning sunlight” is good advice, but it’s hard to know whether the light is actually bright enough—or how long is enough. FirstLight uses the ambient light sensor already inside your MacBook to show live lux and turn changing brightness into a simple daily light-dose countdown. It lives in the menu bar, runs locally, and needs no account or extra device. It’s free and open source. I’d especially love feedback on Mac model compatibility and whether the progress view makes morning light easier to act on.

Who hunted FirstLight?

FirstLight was hunted by Zheng Cheng. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
