When you know a computer is somewhere in your environment but need to find the physical machine, FindIT helps you pinpoint it quickly.
The idea for FindIT started with a pretty simple problem: IT tools can tell you a lot about a computer, but they don't necessarily help you answer the question, “Where is the actual computer?”
You can know the hostname, IP address, user, last check-in, and whether the endpoint is online, but when you're standing in a room full of equipment trying to find one particular machine, that information only gets you so far.
That gap between the digital identity of an endpoint and its physical location is what I wanted to solve.
I started experimenting with a small BLE-based hardware locator and a battery backup, then built the software around it. What started as a prototype grew into a system with Windows Scout software, physical TAB beacons, a cloud portal, mobile BLE proximity tools, device provisioning, hostname-based identification, and the workflows needed to actually manage these devices in an IT environment.
There has been a lot of iteration along the way — hardware changes, firmware debugging, BLE provisioning, battery behavior, Windows service and installer work, multi-tenant SaaS architecture, and plenty of things that worked perfectly right up until they didn't.
The result is FindIT: a system designed to help IT teams physically locate and identify Windows endpoints inside real facilities.

I'm launching it on Product Hunt because I'd like to get this in front of other people who have encountered the same problem, hear how they currently deal with it, and see where we can take the idea from here.
I'd especially love to hear from IT teams: **How do you find a specific computer when you know which one you're looking for, but don't know where it physically is?**
