Repair shops don't need another CRM until they get jobs. FindGear is a public catalog of workshops and mobile techs — search by city and job type, send a request, track it in a dashboard, and leave a review after the job is done. Free for shops, US-first.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm a Rails dev and auto mechanic by trade. I wanted to build shop software for independent repair shops — work orders, vehicle files, invoicing.
But I hit a wall: nobody installs a new CRM until they already get jobs from somewhere.
So I shipped the front door first.
FindGear is a public catalog of workshops and self-employed techs (auto, moto, diesel, agri, marine). Search by city and job type → send a request from the listing → they manage it in a dashboard → after they mark the job done, the customer can leave a review (we approve reviews before they go public).
What works today:
• Listed cards with tags, photos, price list, phones
• Search (text, city, distance)
• Customer requests + simple status board for the shop
• Reviews only after a completed request (on purpose — no fake 5-stars)
• Unclaimed shop pages imported from public map data, with a "is this your workshop?" claim path
What is not live: job board, shop CRM, Stripe, paid plans. The catalog is free.
The ask: If you own or know an independent shop — would you claim a page for inbound requests, or is Google/Facebook already "good enough"? And for cold start: keep importing public listings, or pick one metro and walk into shops by hand?
Thanks for reading 🙏

Who hunted FindGear?
FindGear was hunted by Sergei. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
