FilesToNAS backs up folders from your Android phone to your own NAS over SMB2/3. Manual backups are free. A one-time Pro upgrade adds scheduling and multiple storage profiles. Deleting files on your phone leaves the backups on your NAS; changed files replace the previous copies. No ads, analytics, trackers or separate app account. Use it on your home network or through a VPN.

Top comment

I built FilesToNAS because I wanted a simple way to back up files from Android directly to my own NAS, without sending them through someone else’s cloud or creating yet another account. FilesToNAS is local-first and privacy-focused. It connects directly to SMB/NAS storage, can run scheduled backups, and includes backup health features so you can see when a backup last succeeded or when something needs attention. There’s a free version, with an optional one-time Pro purchase. No subscription, no cloud storage service, and no account required. I’m especially interested in feedback from people who already use a Synology, QNAP, TrueNAS or other SMB-compatible NAS.
