I built FileBeam because every file transfer tool either uploads your files to a server (WeTransfer, Google Drive) or only works on one platform (AirDrop).
FileBeam uses WebRTC to beam files directly from device A to device B. The files themselves — the actual bytes, names, and sizes — never touch any server. They travel only over an encrypted peer-to-peer data channel.
To be fully transparent: a tiny signaling relay (a ~130-line socket.io server) does pass the 6-digit code and connection handshake so the two devices can find each other. That's inherent to how WebRTC works — two devices need to exchange connection info before they can connect directly. But that relay never sees file data, names, or sizes, and rooms are destroyed when the transfer ends.
No size limits, no sign-up, no tracking. Works on any device with a browser.
