I tried the usual screen-time tools and they never changed anything for me. The number that actually mattered was how many times a day I picked the phone up — and how many of those were for nothing: unlock, look, lock again. Most of them.
So Fewer is a home screen that measures exactly that and does very little else, on purpose:
• The counter sits on the home screen: "34 pickups today, 14 for nothing." Nobody wants it to reach 90.
• One line at the top says what today is for. On Monday it asks a few questions and has you pick five things for the week; each morning one of them is the task.
• Instagram, YouTube and the like are "time sinks". Opening one from the home screen shows a short pause that asks how many minutes you'll stay. It never locks — when you come back it just shows what you said against what happened.
• No widgets, no icons, no wallpaper, no notification dots. Six tools, a search line, the shortcuts you chose.
• Nothing leaves the phone. No server, no account, no analytics, no ads. Usage access is optional and the app works without it.

"no server, no account" for something that's supposed to make you self conscious about pickups is the right call, it would feel weird if a habit tracker phoned home. is the pickup count purely from screen-on events at the OS level, or does it need accessibility permissions to tell a real pickup from you just checking the time on the lock screen
pickups instead of screen time makes a lot more sense, half my pickups are just checking nothing. any plans for iOS? I know a launcher isn't possible there, curious if you've looked at what the screen time api would let you do
