Today I’m excited to finally share Ferndesk! The first help center that never goes out of date.
At my last company, we shipped new product incredibly quickly. But as a small team, we never had the bandwidth to keep our docs up to date. We wanted to spend less time in support and more time growing the business, but our docs were a bottleneck.
So one year ago, I set out to build a docs platform that keeps up with you.
Today, Ferndesk saves 100+ SaaS teams 20-50 hours/mo on docs, and counting.
In year two, we're going to help 1,000.
Out-of-date docs cost more than missing ones because people trust them. Nice to see a tool built around catching that.
Congrats on the launch, Wilson! A help center that keeps itself current is exactly the pain most support teams quietly live with. Love that it stays in sync instead of rotting after every release.
How should a team handle a feature that has merged into the codebase but is still behind a feature flag?
search inside docs would help a lot. right now i have to scroll through everything..
Congrats! Docs that keep up with the product is a real pain point for small teams. Does it handle translated help centers too, or only the source language?
One of the most beautiful designed (not just visually) producs I came across for a long time. It's insane that it was built mostly by one guy. Wilson, you are a machine!!
Congratulations @wilsonsquared on your launch! What is the method through which Ferndesk detects when there is any change in the product that impacts an article? 🤔
When I worked at Senja, docs was starting to become a bottle neck until Wilson decided to tackle it head on.
Ferndesk has grown into an amazing platform that keeps your docs up to date. Congrats on the launch, Wilson.
I've been using Ferndesk at Senja since the beta and it's helped save our customer support person 100s of hours.
I fundamentally believe that most customers want to self-serve, and up-to-date docs makes that happen.
The chatbot feature also allows customers to get their questions answered using natural language.
As a result we can spend more time educating and delighting customers, and less time dealing with repeat issues.
The docs are are also beautiful.
Finally, on a personal note, as your ex-cofounder I am so happy to see you continue your journey, ship useful (and sexy looking) products, and grow as a business owner.
Working with Fern has been such a pleasant experience.
Congratulations on the launch Wilson 🚀
100+ teams before the launch post even goes up is the real signal here, most "PLG" tools launch to build that base, you're launching with it already proven. the PR-merged-to-drafted-fix loop in the screenshots is the interesting bit - is it reading the actual diff to guess what changed in user-facing behavior, or does it need someone to still write a plain-English note on what the PR does before it can draft the doc update?
