I'm the maker behind Fancanon, and I built this because I love reading fanfiction, but I grew tired of the state of modern platforms.
If you're in the community, you know the pain:
Legacy archives like AO3 and FanFiction.net are treasures, but their interfaces and reader UX feel stuck in 2008.
Commercial platforms like Wattpad have become heavily commercialized, filled with intrusive ads, aggressive algorithmic changes, and unpredictable censorship waves.
Fancanon started with a simple personal frustration: Why is it so hard to just read a story cleanly on mobile without pinching, zooming, or dodging ads?
What began as an attempt to design a distraction-free, beautifully typeset reader quickly expanded into addressing community pain points:
Multi-sensory storytelling: Fanfic authors constantly write scenes inspired by music. With Music Pairing, writers can link Spotify or Apple Music playlists per chapter so readers hear what inspired the scene.
Accessibility on the go: Built-in Narration (TTS) lets you switch straight from your screen to audio during commutes without exporting files to external readers.
Respect for reading flow: Granular bookmarks, clean author feeds, and reading history tracking that just work smoothly.
This is just the baseline. I'm actively building out advanced relational crossover and tag filtering, community-curated collections, and user-submitted narration/podfic support in the future.
Fancanon is completely free, ad-free, and built with modern tech (SvelteKit) to stay lightning fast.
