FAFI – Find A Frame Interpolation
Real-time frame interpolation for Windows video playback
FAFI — free, offline-first Windows video player with real-time motion interpolation (MEMC + neural RIFE): watch your local 24/30 fps videos at the monitor's full refresh rate. No ads, no account, no telemetry. GPU-accelerated (D3D11 + Vulkan), Lanczos upscaling, subtitles; optional. YouTube streaming via yt-dlp. - eVersor-HN/FindAFrameInterpolation Export of every video you're watching with the activated settings.
Hi everyone,
I made a small Windows video player called FAFI, short for FindAFrameInterpolation. The main goal is simple: smoother video playback through real-time frame interpolation.
The player is focused on easy use, GPU-accelerated playback, and smooth motion without needing a complicated setup. It can play local videos, supports YouTube/ other Stream-URL / network playback, subtitles, upscaling, and export through ffmpeg.
I made it because I wanted a lightweight player mainly focused on smoother motion and practical playback features.
The app is and will be free to use, but it is not open source. The GitHub page is mainly for downloads, releases, and information.
Kind regards
Smoothed out my old 24fps anime files beautifully on a 144Hz monitor and I love that it runs fully offline with zero tracking. Export with current settings applied is a really thoughtful touch too.
Adding support for HDR tonemapping during playback would be huge, since most monitors now handle HDR signals and current interpolated output still looks washed out in highlights. Bonus points if you let users pick between Hable, Reinhard, or a simple toggle.
