I've always struggled with note apps because they eventually turn into a mess I feel obligated to clean up, categorize, and maintain. As a result, I never really committed to any of them - I kept using random txt files and eventually deleting them.
Fadepad is my fix. Notes fade and expire on their own, so there's nothing to organize and nothing to feel bad about. If a note mattered, you acted on it. If it didn't, it's already gone.
What can Fadepad do?
Write it down. All your notes live on one seamless page, one line at a time, with today at the bottom. No titles, no folders, no saving. Capture from anywhere with the ⌥Space command palette or the Share sheet.
Act on it. It integrates natively with the Apple ecosystem: turn a line into a Reminder, Calendar event or Apple Note, or check it off, right where you wrote it. Most of this works from the command palette, keyboard shortcuts or Siri Shortcuts too.
Let it go. Notes eventually fade and leave on their own after 3, 7 or 14 days, your choice. You get a heads-up before unresolved ones go. The cleaning up is done for you.
Everything stays on your Mac. No sync, no server, no account, no analytics.
